RENEWAL HEAT INCENTIVE

Non-Domestic Renewable Heat Incentive (RHI)

The Non-Domestic Renewable Heat Incentive (RHI) is a Government environmental programme that provides financial incentives to increase the uptake of renewable heat to reduce the demand on traditional fossil fuels such as oil, gas or coal. For the non-domestic sector, it provides a subsidy, payable for 20 years, to eligible, non-domestic renewable heat generators and producers of biomethane for injection based in Great Britain, for example Biomass Boilers, Biogas Boilers, Heat Pumps (air, ground and water) and Geo Thermal.

Ofgem is responsible for implementing and administering the scheme on behalf of the Department of Energy and Climate Change.

Aston Cord Energy Services Ltd. can provide advice on what the best option for your business is to maximise your heating efficiencies and the return on your investment through the RHI. The team at Aston Cord Energy Services Ltd can provide a full turn-key solution including; design, supply, installation and registration of your appliance through Ofgem to the RHI scheme.

From 5 October 2015 all participants generating heat (or heat and power) from biomass or biogas and those producing biomethane for injection must comply with sustainability requirements. Waste or fuel wholly derived from waste is considered to meet the sustainability requirements.

Who is the scheme for?

The Non-Domestic RHI is open to the non-domestic sector including industrial, commercial, public sector and not-for-profit organisations with eligible installations, and to producers of biomethane.

This includes for example small businesses, hospitals and schools as well as district heating schemes such as where one boiler serves multiple homes. All applications are subject to the detailed scheme rules.
